I am not young enough... by carlzon I am not young enough... by carlzon
...to know everything
Black/white version of my last self-portraits. [link]
I think that portraits often becomes more stronger and intense if they are in black/white.

Quote from the late (1918 – 2002) swedish photographer Christer Strömholm :
“Don't let the subject block out the picture."
Once up on a time (in the 60ties) he was my mentor and teacher in photography, go and look at his amazing work (especially the Place Blanche serie): [link]

I have to say I like both the color and the black and white for different reasons.

I agree with you, the black and white version is better. It's more intense, it's more expressive. The shadows make your eyes shine and stand out of the whole picture, and the curves of the hands gives an incredible dynamic to the static portrait. I really like it!

Fantastic... I like you instantly :)

...I love the 70s version only cos I have one myself... we were all babes once..

..Montgomery Clift! Gee that ages you beyond your stated roman numerals..
..another Claptonite.. yipee.. I got dev cred for knowing who Jeff Beck was the other day.. does that give me status in your books?

.. see you around perhaps.. I usually reside at :iconicemother: but I must remember to come back when I have more time and have thorough look in you gallery.. gtg as piano tuner arriving.. Liz

I like the grainy effect that comes through - quite subtle.

Your mentor has a liking for the darker side of photography - I'm glad you managed to keep a light touch in your work!

A very emotive portrait. I would have to agree with you on the black and white comment, though I think it could be reasonably extended to variations of monotone...
